Claudio Moya Bio

I’m originally from Woodhaven Queens, NY. I’m happily married and now live on Long Island enjoying all the beautiful wildlife it has to offer.
I’ve been interested in photography since I can remember. As a young boy, I admired my father’s photos, slides, negatives and photo albums. In high school I picked up the camera and started taking pictures when I could. While my wife and I were dating, she picked up on my interest and gave me a gift certificate for a B&W photography class at ICP on 5th Ave. I purchased my first manual SLR camera; a Nikon FM10, and then came an AF SLR. Although I loved photographing, developing, and printing, this hobby became very expensive and time consuming. I took a 2 year hiatus and saved for the digital age; swinging me back into things. The ironic thing is that nothing has changed, it’s still expensive but not as time consuming (so it seems).
A photographer for hire; I shoot corporate and sporting events with a stock photography agency. I shoot with both Nikon and Canon equipment. I currently shoot with a Nikon D200 and a variety of lenses for portraits, events, landscapes, and macro. I use a Canon EOS-1 D Mark II N for birding and other action photography. Although I’ve photographed within cities and other countries; my interest in nature/birding photography deepened when I saw a Snowy Owl in Jamaica Bay. Nothing has been the same since...

I’m currently a member of Nature and Wildlife Photographers of Long Island (NWPLI), a community of Nature Photographers mostly from Long Island. I’m also a member of other organizations and parks.

My favorite parks to photograph in are;
Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge
Jones Beach West End 2
Pelham Bay Park
Sunken Meadow Park
And other local areas

I’ve also been fortunate enough to photograph in other area outside of NY and hope to continue for many years to come.
Beaches of Viña Del Mar, Chile
La Campana a National Wildlife Refuge in Chile
Puerto Rico
Peru
Canada
