Marc Bernstein Bio

The beauty of nature photography is to observe, compose and create images that capture the moment. It is this philosophy which enables me to fulfill my passion for the outdoors.

I began taking photos over 25 years ago. I started out using a fully manual Pentax SLR and in 1992 moved up to the Minolta 7i 35mm SLR, along with several lenses. About five years ago, I switched to digital and now shoot exclusively in digital with a Nikon D70s. I enjoy macro photography, especially photographing flora using a 60mm Micro-Nikkor lens and a Sigma 180mm macro. I also use my Tamron 18-200mm lens for landscapes. In addition, I find photography provides me the much-needed therapeutic inspiration which allows me to completely detach myself from the daily demands and excessive stress of my profession being a Financial Consultant.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, I currently reside in Westbury, Long Island with my beautiful wife, two daughters and our Wheaten Terrier named ‘Teddy’.

I joined the NWPLI in April ‘06 so that I may interact with other camera “buffs” who also share my enthusiasm for photography. I look forward to enriching my techniques by attending the various workshops and outings and I hope that I may be helpful to the other members as well.
